Alaia patterns based on ancient Hawaiian surfboards. The Alaia is a finless wooden surf board with hardly any rocker. The tend to run from 5' to 10' long, 14" to 181/2" wide 3/4' to 1 1/4' thick. They can be ridden like a bodyboard or standing up. It takes a bit of practice to paddle the Alaia, it floats under you and has a different feel than a modern surfboard. It takes a lot of skill to ride the Alaia standing up but is a awsome feeling when you figure it out. Feel free to email me with any questions.
Check out Surfer Mag. July 2010 on page 42. The article about leashes , look at the Alaia its one of my boards.
